Description Ocimum basilicum ‘Pesto Perpetuo’ is an ornamental and edible basil with grey-green cream-edged variegated foliage on highly branching and productive plants. The delicious leaves are small but plentiful and have a wonderful aroma with a hint of lemon and cinnamon. Basils are one of the most popular herbs used fresh or dried in a wide variety of dishes. Bushy upright plants have aromatic, shiny foliage in a variety of shapes, colours and flavours. Plant in a warm, well-drained site. In general, remove flower heads promptly to keep the plant producing foliage yet, in this case, ‘Pesto Perpetuo’ is non-flowering. Can be grown indoors on a windowsill. Though enticing, don’t grow basils outside until around May 15 as soils and night time temperatures will be too low. In general basil should not be outside until nighttime temperatures are at or above 10 degrees Celsius.
